Development Co-Chair, York

JJ Sheffer

JJ Sheffer is Director, Community Programs at York County Economic Alliance. She runs a number of arts and humanities programs that center around storytelling, including York: Crafted, a series of events featuring brief lectures on what it means to be a craftsman in York, PA; York Story Slam, an open mic storytelling series; and Kable House Presents, an independent concert series hosted in York's historic Central Market. Sheffer is also part of the teams responsible for the Human Library: York; foodstruck, a food truck block party in downtown York; and the I Love York City campaign.

She is also a freelance writer, primarily for music-related websites and print publications, and teaches a course on special event planning at York College of Pennsylvania. She studied English/Professional Writing at Kutztown University and completed her undergraduate studies at Penn State University. In addition to serving the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, she is also a member of the steering committee for the Women's Giving Circle of York County Community Foundation.
